Goulburn Mulwaree Council and Wingecarribee Shire Council have secured funding through the Future Drought Fund to support our ATFF event which aims to benefit rural landholders in both districts. The ATFF project, is designed to address challenges faced by lifestyle landholders managing properties between 5 and 40 hectares by encouraging neighbours to work together, combining land resources and management skills. The initiative aims to create more drought resilient, productive, and biodiverse landscapes while fostering stronger community connections.

What is Landcare

Landcare is a national grass roots movement driven by volunteers around Australia who are addressing environmental issues we are facing as a nation. This means anything from poor water quality, salinity and erosion, loss of biodiversity, poor soil health, impacts from climate change, impacts from invasive species, coastal degradation, marine debris issues, and a loss of Australian wildlife.

Over 5,500 groups around the country are working on these issues from remote rural communities to bustling busy cities through activities such as seed collections, tree plantings, weed removal, clean up events, erosion control, native species recovery projects, and pest species management. Thousands of everyday Australians get their hands dirty and regularly make a difference, will you?

What can I do?

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to the community and the local environment. Landcare work is not limited to planting trees and pulling out weeds, the beauty of the movement is that it is diverse, and there is something for everyone no matter what your experience is, and where you are at in life.

We can connect you with opportunities to suit your knowledge, skills and passions, accessibility needs and fitness levels, just let us know what you want to do and where you want to work, or if you’re a little stuck on this, we can help you discover this too.

We are always looking for volunteers to help out with local environmental projects, and yes this may mean getting your hands dirty, being active and getting outside which has great social and physical health benefits. But we are also on the lookout for people with other diverse skills such as administration, marketing, media, communications, photography, accounting, botany, seed collection, volunteer liaison and much more which helps contribute to the whole system which supports grass roots environmental volunteerism, and ultimately the protection and restoration of our local environment.

Donations

Not everyone can get involved in on-ground works, and Goulburn Mulwaree Landcare Landscapes welcomes donations to assist us with our work. We are a not-for-profit organisation and are set up to take donations and issue receipts for tax deductions.
